William Cope Moyers to share story of addiction, recovery in Grand Rapids

william-moyersGRAND RAPIDS, MI – William Cope Moyers, a journalist and recovering addict, will share his story at a fundraiser later this month in Grand Rapids.

Moyers, the author of the memoir “Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption,” will speak at the benefit Oct. 29 for Our Hope Association, a residential treatment facility for women.

The event aims to raise awareness of the issues facing women in recovery as well as raise money to repair the association’s home in Heritage Hill, said Marcella Scott, the group’s advancement director.

Moyers, the son of journalist Bill Moyers, uses his experiences to raise awareness about the power of addiction and recovery. He advocates for the elimination of barriers that stand in the way of treatment. Read more…
