Toad art sales benefit addiction recovery program

toad-artIn celebration of Toad Suck Daze, Art on the Green offers art lovers a poster featuring everyone’s favorite amphibian. Proceeds from poster sales will benefit Renewal Ranch.

Artist Linda Flake of Little Rock, one of the artists whose work is displayed at the gallery, created the art for the poster, “Moonstruck Toad.”

Flake said, “I did a painting of a frog in a tree many years ago. This poster is inspired by that.”

Posters are $10 each, with all proceeds going to Renewal Ranch. They may be purchased at the gallery, located at 1100 Bob Courtway Drive, Suite 1. Renewal Ranch is a Christian-based drug and alcohol recovery program based in Conway with treatment facilities in Houston, Arkansas.

Brenda McClain of Art on the Green said, “I have been enamored with Linda Flake’s work since the first time I saw ‘Gossips,’ which is still on our website. Everything she brings in is brilliant. She’s a great storyteller. I’ve loved (‘Moonstruck Toad’) since I saw it.

James Loy, executive director of Renewal Ranch, said, “They have been such a blessing to our ministry. This is just an example of how Renewal Ranch exists. We don’t take any state or government support. It’s just all these different streams of income that happen to come into the ministry, and we’re so thankful to the Lord for that.”

The program started in January 2011 with 8 residents and now has 66 men in the program, he said. More than 100 men have graduated from the program, and almost 70 percent have remained clean and sober a year after completing the program, Loy said. The ministry has received support from various groups and organizations in addition to what it receives from churches, he added. Read more…
