Sharon Osbourne is opening up regarding her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s recent drug and alcohol relapse, as well as the current status of their marriage
The English television host, 60, has been married to the heavy metal musician for over 30 years. In a recent episode of her CBS show, “The Talk,” she admitted that even she didn’t know the extent of her husband’s recurring addiction.
“Everybody knows he’s been struggling with this his entire life,” Sharon explained on the April 23 episode of “The Talk.” “I never knew that he was using prescription drugs. I knew he was drinking occasionally but I didn’t realize, you know, to the extent. It’s our business, we’re dealing with it.”
The 64-year-old rocker, who has openly battled substance abuse for years, recently took to hisFacebook to announce that he and his wife would not be separating, responding to recent tabloid reports. Sharon echoed his sentiments on the show, adding that while they plan to stick together, she’s “devastated.”
“We’re not getting divorced, however, am I happy? No. Am I upset? Yes I am, I’m devastated right now,” she continued. “It’s a disease that not only hurts the person who has the disease but it hurts the family, it hurts people who love you, and we’re dealing with it. We’ve dealt with worse and we will deal with it and this too shall pass. Otherwise my husband will be taken to hospital to get my foot removed from his (expletive).”
Ozzy has been to rehab multiple times throughout his life for drug and alcohol addictions. The two have three children, including Kelly and Jack, who have also been treated for substance addiction in the past.
On April 16, Ozzy responded to reports that claimed he and Sharon decided to split, saying that the two are not divorcing and that his recent relapse caused him to behave badly toward his loved ones.
While Ozzy and his family did invite cameras into their home for their hit reality show, which aired between 2002 and 2005, he doesn’t often speak publicly about his personal struggles. However, he issued a rare personal statement on his Facebook page late on Monday to respond to the numerous reports.
Ozzy’s personal statement explained that he was in “a very dark place” and had been mistreating the people he loves most — his family. It went on to explain that he was now 44 days sober, and was trying to be a better person. The musician did not elaborate about his treatment plan for his relapse.
The so-called “Prince of Darkness,” and Sharon, his manager, wed in Hawaii in 1982, several years after the rocker was fired from Black Sabbath after squabbling with band mates and battling substance abuse. He concentrated on a solo career and reunited with the group several times from 1985 to 2005.
The rocker now plans on touring with Sabbath band mates Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler later this year. The group is set to release a new album titled “13” in June, which will mark their first major record in 35 years. Article Link…
