vampire-slayerNicholas Brendon is going to rehab to treat his “medical ailments” and “emotional demons,” according to a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Monday.

“I apologize. Usually those words end a message like this but I am beginning with them to emphasize how much I regret disappointing my family, my fans, and myself… I make no excuse for my unacceptable behavior.”
The 43-year old Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor also explained the events that led up to him mixing alcohol and prescription pills in the first place. According to his statement, Nicholas Brendon used the prescription medication to “manage a cyst” located behind his knee cap which was scheduled for corrective surgery on Monday. While taking the medication, Brendon made the “poor decision” to mix it with alcohol.

“For the past 5 days, I have been taking prescription pain medication to help me manage a cyst behind my knee cap…I made the poor decision to mix this prescribed medication with alcohol. The result was embarrassing and unacceptable.”
