Kelly Osbourne Speaks About Ozzy’s Relapse

The rocker’s daughter relates his struggles to her own, saying “he’s an addict; I’m an addict.”

ozKelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy, knows that addiction can be a family disease. “He’s an addict; I’m an addict,”she says in the July issue of Cosmopolitan, “It’s going to be one of those things we battle for the rest of our lives.” While addressing her father’s recent relapse, the 28-year-old Fashion Police host says that Ozzy Osbourne is “a real man” for being honest with family and fans. “I love and respect that he’s honest enough to say, ‘Yes, I did this. It was my fault.’ He’s a real man,” she says, “Most people would hide, and he doesn’t. It doesn’t make me love him any less. It took a long time to get to that place, but I understand it now.” Although Ozzy has been in the news lately since he shared about relapsing on alcohol and prescription pills, Kelly says the family’s addiction issues have never been a secret. “We had a TV show about this,” she explains. “Now people are trying to act like it’s a new story.” Kelly, who has been clean for nearly four years, says these days: “I take the necessary precautions. If you’re not happy and healthy, it’s not worth any of it. Everyone says sex, drugs, and rock and roll are fun. It ain’t fun. It is not something to glorify.” Her younger brother, Jack, celebrated ten years sober last month. But while Kelly recognizes the importance of speaking out about addiction, she takes issue with the media making her family’s struggles into mainstream news, especially in lieu of more pressing tragedies. “It made me break down and cry when my parents rather than the Boston Marathon were on the cover of the British newspapers,” she says, “People lost their children from a terrorist attack, and that’s superseded by this bulls–t story that is not even real.” Article Link “the fix”
