A Texas woman is arrested after learning the hard way that cops “don’t deliver—they pick up.”

After throwing back a few drinks and running out of smokes, Linda White from Granbury, Texas, declared the situation an emergency and called 911. “I need some cigarettes,” she said in a recording of the call. Cops did show up at her house—but instead of delivering a fresh pack of Marlboro Reds, they arrested her for abusing 911, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail. “A call for deputies to bring cigarettes to the resident is not an emergency call,” said county chief deputy Biff Temple. White was released on bail after six hours and has since tried to explain her behavior. “We were just kicking it in the back yard—a few beers too many. Next thing you know, we’re out of cigarettes,” she said. “Well, I didn’t want to drive to town…I was drunk, you know, but in my back yard.” She also apologized, and said she has learned the hard way that cops are not a delivery service, adding: “They don’t deliver—they pick up.” Article Link…
