Comedian George Lopez Vows To Stay Sober After Arrest

Since passing out drunk a casino floor in Canada, the popular comedian tried to laugh off the incident after becoming a national joke.

lopez-alcoholicGeorge Lopez has vowed to stop drinking after his embarrassing public intoxication arrest last month. The comedian was photographed passed out on the floor of a casino lobby in Windsor, Ontario, where he had performed at a gig earlier that evening at Caesar’s Windsor. Lopez was removed by police and placed in a drunk tank to sober up, but no charges were filed against him and he performed another the show at the casino the following night.

But during an interview earlier this week with Ellen DeGeneres, Lopez said he hadn’t touched alcohol since his arrest as he tried to laugh off the incident. “Apparently I’m a bigger Justin Bieber fan than I thought I was. But you know how they always say whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but whatever happens in Canada everybody knows,” he joked. “[The police] said said ‘Sir, this behavior cannot continue, and if it does continue, we would be honored if you would be mayor of Toronto.’”

Lopez also cracked that he was trying to head to his room, but “missed it by 35 floors,” and “just because Mexicans invented tequila doesn’t mean we can handle it.” He even managed to poke fun at the arrest immediately after happened. After leaving police custody, Lopez took to Twitter and wrote “tied one on last night. Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor.”

However, Lopez’s wild drinking has sparked concern due to his ongoing health problems. His kidneys have deteriorated due to a genetic condition and his then-wife, Ann, even donated one of her kidneys to him for a 2005 transplant procedure. Article Link “the fix”…
